Noo Raajje is a partnership between the Government of the Maldives and the Blue Prosperity Coalition to protect and value the ocean and its resources in the Maldives to build a bright future for communities, the economy, and the environment.

The Maldives is home to some  of the most diverse marine life  and  coral reef ecosystems on the planet. Maldivian tuna is caught one fish at a time, with minimal impacts on the ocean system, making the fishery one of the most sustainable tuna fisheries in the world. The vast ocean resources are key to Maldivian livelihoods and economies,  providing tuna and other seafood of premium quality and bringing tourists from around the globe.

Yet, these ocean ecosystems are fragile. Coral reefs and fish populations are facing threats from coastal development, increased fishing pressures, and effects of  climate change.  The health of the ocean relies on careful planning, that's why the Government of the Maldive is taking bold steps to protect its ocean space. Working on a comprehensive strategy for sustainable fisheries, smart economic development, and protecting the most important habitats and species, the Noo Raajje program will create a plan that will allow both people and the environment to thrive.
